The low reviews are probably from out of towners who don’t know what a good pizza is because they are used to sub par joints in their small town. Ask ANY Baltimore local and they will recommend Matthews Pizza

This is a Chicago style deep dish pizza joint from the 1940’s. I love deep dish pizza. The 4 cheese pizza at Matthew’s is my favorite pizza in Baltimore. Delicious crispy & charred crust. Excellent cheeses, excellent sauce. Most of the time it’s a little too greasy, but it’s still excellent.

Extremely fresh. Bland sauce. Well cooked. Missing some spices.

Bar pizza. Greasy as fuck. Zero flop. It’s like a personal pan from PizzaHut.

Not for everyone, especially if you’re looking for a traditional NY slice. But overall a very good slice. Solid 7.6

One of the best pizzas in Baltimore. The crust is very cheesy and buttery, great cheeses too. No flop since it’s deep dish style. Very old school place which gives the place lots of character.

They don’t package their pizzas properly. That’s a foul right there! very cheesy, not a ton of sauce. a little bit messy. very bready. Good crisp on the crust. Sadly a little bit reminiscent of grilled cheese. Not a huge fan, but you can tell their pizza is a little more cafully crafted than other Baltimore pizza spots. 6.0

Thick and airy, crispy crust with melted, crunchy cheese. Grated italian cheese, mozzarella, and ricotta with portobello mushrooms and pepperoni. 10 out of 10, best in Baltimore.

Incredible crab pizza

Matthews, not your traditional pizza. I loved the place. Family owned, “old time” feeling. Small individual pizza. Think crust, with a burnt, crispy, and o crunchy crust! Fresh ingredients. Not my favorite type of pizza but unique style of pizza. Recommend when Visiting Baltimore.

This pizza is the bench mark of what pizzas should be compared to. Fresh ingredients, perfect level of crispness and filling for a pie so deceptive small . Why isn’t it a ten ... 2 reasons . (1) it comes out bubbling hot. A mandatory cooling off period is required. (2) the delivery system . You pizza is served on a cardboard/ paper mache plate . Making it in possible to get excess cheese. That being said it’s doesn’t take away too much. They have been sliding out amazing pies for 76 years
