Excited is an understatement when I heard DiFara was partnering with S.I. Restauranteur to open a location on the island. I intentionally waited a few months to try it since I was reading mixed reviews. The pizza was disappointing considering I have the Brooklyn location a 9.3, I had high hopes. Overall both the round and the sicialian were a little too soggy for me. They were tasty but considering all the great pizzeria’s on the island DiFara is going to have to try harder to replicate their Brooklyn magic. Now the chicken parm and meatballs were easy 8.9 for me. But we are here for that first bite.

This pizza was not very good. It fell apart when I tried to pick it up, it was very floppy and the sauce and cheese had a weird taste. The only redeeming quality was the crust which was pretty good. Overall it was kinda disappointing.

I’ll say it, better than Brooklyn. The same flavor and love from avenue J comes to Staten Island but my god the crisp and crunch from this is something I’d not experience there. While not the airiest dough the pizza excels in every way from start to finish just like Dom intended. The sauce, rich, fresh, chunky and explodes with zest along with the buffalo mozz, grated cheese and basil atop a thicker crunchy crust that even I could only eat 4 slices of. It’s a monster as generous as the ingredients are but doesn’t get soggy or anything. The undercarriage has char, dimples and pocketing showing off a perfect cook. The place itself has great people awesome service and looks the part of what you’d expect a new difara to be paying homage to the late legend. Again rarely does a sister location to a great place exceed but my take this does and then some. Be back soon for sure as he trying here is way easier to!!

Difara is a far cry from what it used to be when Dom was at the helm. The avenue J location hasn’t been the same, and the same can be said about the SI location. The crust was severely lacking, and the sauce and cheeses were off as well. The apps and entrees were excellent though.

Best Pizza on Staten Island hands down. Maybe a bit of the mark of the original but still amazing. Hard to imagine a pizza being better then this

I wouldn’t go as far to say that I am disappointed in the new incarnation of di Fara but in comparison to the original which is arguably the best pizza within New York City limits, this is just a good slice. Nothing more. Hopefully in time and with some tweaks this will become like the original namesake, a perfect slice.
