Millie’s Old World Meatballs & Pizza

The rating is currently a 7.8 however I think it’s underrated and belongs in the 8’s. This is an excellent pizza 🍕

Best pizza in Morristown by far!

Had a Millie’s Signature Pie. Not at all like your usual pizza. A little more on the fancier side and different from a regular pie. Crust is good and sauce is tasty. Just don’t expect a New York style pizza. Still very good.

Could swear there is Ricotta on this pizza. Little light on the sauce. Good crust.

🚨UNDERRATED PIZZA ALERT🚨 Along with their other location in Staten Island, this Morristown spot serves 2 different types of pizza: their “Signature Pie,” inspired by the legendary Totonno’s of Coney Island, cooked in a coal-fired oven at 650°+ for 5 minutes, and their Neapolitan style Margherita pizza cooked in a wood oven imported from Naples at an intense 800°+ for just 90 seconds. I opted for the Signature Pie, which is the closest they have to a regular coal-fired plain cheese pizza. This is truly a unique, off the beaten path, outstandingly original style pie. Even though it looks somewhat heavy, it’s actually rather light, airy & fluffy, particularly the crust which appears to be a uniquely knotted or braided style that would be perfect for garlic knots or a stuffed-cheese crust. With a surprisingly crispy & crunchy texture, the dough is mostly firm, magnificently charred with a beautifully blackened undercarriage to go along with a remarkably tasty & smokey flavor, nearly zero flop, providing a top notch base for the other ingredients. This is actually a bit of an upside down pie, with the mozzarella cheese hugging the dough in spots & the sauce smattered atop the pizza. Creamy & melty, the homemade mozz is deliciously delightful, with a touch of grated pecorino romano enhancing the overall flavor. Made from fresh peeled tomatoes & sautéed with garlic & a blend of special seasonings, the sauce is super sweet, hearty, chunky, tangy, zesty, & bursting with flavor & plenty of pizzazz that could be applied to a pasta dish or meatballs as well. A smidge more sauce would create a better balance among all of the components but the flavors from the dough, cheese & sauce work really well together as is, especially the synergy among the textures of these elements, each shining in their own way. This is not a typical straight fastball football pizza; this is a hanging curveball over the plate & I’m banging it! Couldn’t be more pleasantly surprised by how good this different coal-fired style is; and I’m somewhat stunned by some of these lower scores. Underrated to say the least, this is uniquely good travel-worthy pizza that deserves more consideration. Bonus meatball review: very solid, pretty close to the kind my grandmother made; I’ll go 8.5 for the fried meatballs. Grandma Millie would be proud! 🤌🏻

Dave I am loosing faith in your judgement. I got the Millie’s coal fired pizza and it was packed with some very delicious flavor and the crust was perfect. I have visited most of Dave’s top contenders and this should be there.

Absolutely the best pizza in the area. I have no idea what Dave’s on. Ingredients are the freshest I’ve ever seen and the meatballs on the pie are the absolute best.

Got the traditional pie, as close to a plain slice as possible hear. I can see why Portnoy gave his score, the crust is doughy and without a crunch. But the sauce and top quality mozzarella are enough for me to get the score into the mid 7s. If this sauce and cheese combo was on a better dough this would be an excellent pizza I think.

Great Pizza. Greasy plum sauce, great mozzarella. Anyone rating below 7.6 has no clue.....

Very solid. Good crunch and can taste the wood fired smoke. Applewood smoked bacon is the best topping here. Highly recommend

House special coal fired pizza is awesome.

Fresh tasting good sauce. This is more Neapolitan style which I enjoy. Thing but chewy dough

Really enjoyed their signature personal pie. Sauce is thick and the coal fired crisp taste was excellent.

Crust was too doughy and thick

Good pizza. Needs some more flavor in the sauce. Crust was great. Had the coal fired pizza. Will try the wood fired next time. I will say this though, OMG the meatballs! Next time I will get the meatball pizza. Amazing meatballs and vodka sauce.

Millie’s Signature coal-fired pie is delish! Nice char on tender crust. Zesty, hearty sauce generously served on top. If only a bit more crunch....

Sauce was a little to chunky for me but crust was great and very crispy, even held up to the heavy sauce.

Very good. Best ive had in motown but the saice was a lil flat. Shout out to the meatballs though. 8.9 on the meatballs
