This one was on my bucket list for a while. Boy, was it enjoyable even though I was expected to be disappointed. The coal oven really gave it great flavor, and the crust was my favorite part. Cheese to sauce ratio was slightly in favor of the cheese, but it didn't take away from that great taste from the seasoned sauce. The only beef I had with the pie was the loose and floppy center. If it had the crisp like it did on the back end, this would be in the high 8's low 9's. May be the best in New Haven, and would return in a heartbeat.

Pizza and mozzarella garlic bread were incredible

If you are a cheese lover, this will be your style. A little light on the sauce. Perfect charcoal crust. Plain as the way.

3rd favourite between them, Sally’s and Pepe’s but the crust is the best of the 3.

Wasn't expecting this to be better than Sallys but here we are wondering how a pizza could possibly be any better than this.

Decent all around pizza

Really good. The cheese is amazing and the crisp is New Haven. Not in my top 5 but it's really good.

Happened to be in New Haven, so I decided to see what all the excitement was about. Well, it's pretty exciting. As soon as you open the box, you know it's good. Everything from the shape, the color, the thickness, and the Char. You know it's going to be good. Nothing close like this where I live.

Heavy on the cheese.

I have only recently experienced Modern. I usually stop at Sally’s Apizza when traveling through New Haven. But the last two trips I was able to hit up Modern. Both times I have my pie of choice, sausage and cherry peppers. Both times after just “one bite”, I knew this is my all time favorite. I have had them all, and for reasons I do not fully understand, Modern is my clear favorite. I always talk about my Mt. Rushmore of pizza … Sally’s, Lucali, Chris Bianco in Phoenix, and Mozza. But now I have my Holy Grail, my Mt. Everest … nothing beats a Modern pie. No special instructions, these guys are pros.
