Modern Apizza

In New Haven today to complete the holy trinity! What a disappointment! !! Pizza was a soggy, floppy mess. I had to use A fork and knife. Barely any sauce, barely any flavor. Service was also piss poor. Staff likes to spend too much time talking in the kitchen. It was average bar pizza at best ! If they were on Wooster, they’d be out of business. 7.1 is a very generous gift IMO !! Modern “Apizza” should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Sally’s and Frank Pepe’s !!

Cooked to perfection. Too much cheese, flavorless crust, blah sauce. Needed some pizzaz.

The pizza had barely any sauce and the cheese was very salty and chewy. I would not even classify this as New Haven style seeing that New Haven is supposed to be slightly overcooked, which this definitely was not. Don’t waste your time waiting to come here, go to Sally’s or Frank Pepe’s instead.

Better than Sally's. Foo shoo. It's Sally's with cheese. If you like sauce and barely any cheese go to Sally's. If you want New Haven with just the right amount of cheese, hit Modern. If you want too much cheese, go to Pepe's.

Packed with flavor, perfect amount of cheese, incredible pepperoni, just the right amount of char. Blows Sally’s away.

If you have to eat it with a knife and fork and use a lot of napkins it’s gonna be floppy and greasy. This place is proof of a heard mentality. Someone told you it was great but I’ve actually had better pizza from Domino’s.

Having eaten at franks, Sally’s and modern all in the last 2 days, I will say Sally’s is the best, it’s all about the sauce… modern, if it had Sally’s sauce would be in another hemisphere… cheese and crust are superior, but Sally’s was so close and the sauce is a million times better

3 pies in 3 days and Modern ties for the tops!! Crust was perfect, flavor was out standing. Just a great pizza!!

Good flavor but had too much mozzarella cheese and was extremely floppy, we had to eat it with a fork and knife.

Really great pizza. Outside of the grumpy jackass who manages the waiting list (seriously everybody in line couldn’t believe how little he cared), the experience was great. Fresh, hot, tasty and crispy in all the right places.

Fantastic pizza. Nice charred undercarriage and very flavorful sauce and cheese. Crispy thin crust with good flavor. Meatball was a good addition. Just ever so slight flop.

Modern is great for many reasons. The cheese the sauce the bread. But what I love on a New Haven style pie is the charcoal and modern nails that. Modern was also the first New Haven pizza I tried an made me love it even more.

Modern was a great experience. The food was great, the ingredients fresh, and the portions were generous.

Ordered a large pepperoni to be fair to compare three of the pizzas from the New Haven Holy Trinity. Really good through maybe slightly on the greasy side. I enjoyed the crispy but not burnt crust. Had a generally good taste though I like Sally’s better overall. To me Modern is more neck and neck with Frank Pepe of today (I think Frank Pepe was better back in the day)
