My first visit to Modern Apizza and I have mixed feelings about it. My posted score is for the half sausage half plain regular pizza which was good but not anywhere near some of the other area spots. The clam pizza in my photo was terrible and I’ll be kind with the 5.7 score I’m giving it. I thought I had the Rona again for the second time as there was literally no flavor what so ever to this pizza. I guess I’m spoiled on Zuppardi’s fresh clam pie which is heaven. One the regular pizza it was very doughy as I like the crispy thin crust. I don’t know I think place is a bit overrated and I’ll stick to the others I like.

Extremely good pizza I believe it needs a little more sauce. It’s very cheesy, but the crust is phenomenal.

So good. The sauce is amazing and it’s super cheesy. Great undercarriage and perfectly crispy crust. So bomb, will be back

Went here 10 days after going to Sally’s and I have to say I was blown away at how much better Modern was to Sally’s. The crust, the sauce, the cheese all simply amazing. I’m not much for the clam pie but my wife had one at both places and she said the Modern pizza had more and richer tasting garlic, better char on the crust, and fresher tasting clams. She was happy at Sally’s but said Modern was the best pizza she had ever had.

Was told this is the best of the big 3, still not totally convinced but wow was the cheese solid. Great undercarriage, crisp, and cheese. Not much sauce but as a result the slices are thin and ideal.

My favorite of the Big 3. This could have been a little bit more well done but orders were flying even at 11am. Overall my personal preference for best taste in New Haven.

Flavor was on point. Crust was crunchy and great tasting. This particular pie was somewhat soupy and did not live up to high expectations as a result. Hoping to try again as had flavor profile to be higher if cooked a little better

This was the Italian Bomb, unseen is the plain cheese that was gone within seconds. I have found my fav of all time and is honestly the best I’ve ever had. Worth the 2 hour trip. This is a must try. My only 10. It’s perfect.
