Large half cheese, half hot cherry pepper, an IPA and a T-shirt, $50 and change +tip Pros - Charred up like you’d expect in New Haven. Decent sauce to cheese ratio and it’s a little greasy but has good flavor to it. Very good crust Cons - It was great but I wasn’t blown away, which you expect when the bar is set so high. Verdict - This is the top New Haven pizza for a lot of people so it’s been atop my to-do list for a while. Was hoping this pizza would be the best I ever had but it’s near top 10

This pie had some of the best mozz I’ve ever tasted. Crust was NY style and perfectly charred in a 90 year old brick oven. This place will see me again.

Went here 10 days after going to Sally’s and I have to say I was blown away at how much better Modern was to Sally’s. The crust, the sauce, the cheese all simply amazing. I’m not much for the clam pie but my wife had one at both places and she said the Modern pizza had more and richer tasting garlic, better char on the crust, and fresher tasting clams. She was happy at Sally’s but said Modern was the best pizza she had ever had.

Was told this is the best of the big 3, still not totally convinced but wow was the cheese solid. Great undercarriage, crisp, and cheese. Not much sauce but as a result the slices are thin and ideal.
