Pizza Review
Serving Rockland county for over 20 years, Nonna Rosa’s offers traditional football pizza with the absence of crisp. Somewhat thinnish, certainly not too thick, the dough is super soft without any semblance of crunch to be found. Shockingly, there is also zero flop despite the mega soft texture & lack of char, to go along with minuscule crunch in the crust which is similarly as soft as the rest of the dough. The soggy & mushy consistency is a total turnoff, almost as unappealing as the boringly bland flavor of the dough. This pie tastes like it got wet and then shoved back in the oven to dry off but didn’t completely dry before they pulled it. Generic ingredients don’t offer any support to help save this pizza’s sunken score. The cheese is a very typical & basic shredded mozzarella blend, not engulfed by grease, giving hope to a somewhat higher quality with a manageable oil flow. Fortunately, the sauce is slightly distinctive, mostly sweet with rather reasonable flavor but not quite strong enough to overcome the terrible texture of the dough. The cheese & sauce aren’t nearly as big of a problem as the lack of crisp & crunch in the depressingly disappointing dough. Even significant crisping would only boost the overall rating to high 6s, maybe very low 7s. As it stands, this is subpar, below average, barely basic football pizza you can skip.
