Pizza Review
Nunzio’s is a Jersey Shore staple since 1953, and has every bit of that old school feel & charm. Light, thin, crispy pies with no sogginess whatsoever thanks to the bread crumbs or seeds underneath to prevent moisture buildup that ruins so many other pizzas that don’t take these precautions. The cheese to sauce ratio is about as perfect as it gets and virtually no excess grease, so you can actually taste the flavors without interference. The sauce is fantastic: zippy, zesty with plenty of pizzazz, spread thoroughly around the pie. Cheese is somewhat generic but compliments the sauce tremendously with a dash of oregano and spice mixed in. The dough is nice and firm leading to an outstandingly crispy crust. While the dough is tasty, Jersey Shore water isn’t quite on the same level as NYC water, and that slight lack of flavor is the only thing keeping this pizza out of the 9s. This is a terrific pie overall, one of the best the beach has to offer; no doubt a top travel spot on the Jersey Shore pizza circuit.
