Pizza Review
The first thing you need to know about this joint is how to pronounce its name: Ol-yas-tro (the “g” is silent). The second thing you need to know is just how damn good these pies are. Wood-fired, personal, artisanal, Neapolitan style pizza...but unlike the majority of these pies I’ve tried, it’s actually quite crispy with exquisitely crunchy crust. The ingredients are all phenomenal. A distinct garlic taste permeates the sauce, packed with plenty of zing and enhanced flavor from the fresh basil and extra virgin olive oil. The oozing soft melted mozzarella is distributed perfectly across the pie, with a delicious creamy texture and delectable taste. The only real drawback is the slight sogginess in the center of the pizza, but it’s tolerable considering the strength of the surrounding ingredients. Other than that, the dough is outstanding and this is easily one of the crispiest wood-fired Neapolitan style pies I’ve ever had...certainly one of the best in Brooklyn & New York overall. With reasonable prices to boot, this is definitely worth a try, especially if you like this type of pie.
