Pizza Review
Pizza was very good 8.4. Crust crunchy but I disliked its flavor. Sauce very good, lots of cheese, great pep and honey. SUPER heavy. I did not put an 8.4 because of the horrendous service and the mediocre appetizers.
Pizza Review
I’m surprised at how few reviews there are for such a trendy & fairly well-acclaimed joint. Perhaps the long lines and fickle hours are to blame? Closed Tues & Weds, 3 to 10pm on Sat & Sun, 5 to 10pm other days. I never solely rate pies other than cheese unless there are special circumstances; and I only rate squares if that’s the style the pizzeria is more known for over round pies, I also never rate pepperoni slices. But the O.G. Roni is the signature pizza here, so I wanted a crack at their best. The menu overall is fairly simple, not a ton of pizza options. Consisting of tomato, mozzarella, pepperoni, hot honey, basil & shredded pecorino romana, the O.G. Roni is a heavy pie but the dough is still light, airy & fluffy. Great crisp towards the crust but a tad mushy in the middle. The cheese is a creamy & tasty blend with solid sharp flavor. The sauce is more crushed tomatoes than a purée, somewhat watered down in flavor, sweet but lacking in spice; perhaps overwhelmed by the pepperoni & hot honey interfering with the potency of the tomato sauce. I’m not the biggest fan of pepperoni; in hindsight, I should have gone with a plain pie, even though I like this pizza but don’t love it. As a change of pace pie, it’s very good, a little pricey and not really worth long waits. As tasty as it was overall, I’m not traveling long distances for this pizza. If you’re a pepperoni lover, this is def worth a try; if not, there are better pizza spots in Miami.
