😴SLEEPER PIZZA ALERT😴 Not mentioned among any of the other top Sea Isle City pizzerias, this joint definitely flies under the radar and deserves some recognition. This pie is almost the exact same style as Berardi Bros down the block: thick & heavy football pizza, same outstanding Grande mozzarella, only difference is way more sauce on the Panzini pie. The cheese & sauce a very heavy, physically overpowering the dough, which creates some sogginess in the middle of the pie and major floppage at the top of each slice. They use semolina flour on the undercarriage to prevent moisture buildup but the heavy ingredients render those efforts futile. I love the thick San Marzano tomato sauce, bursting with flavor, tremendously sweet, just enough spice and plenty of pizzazz, truly distinguishing this pie from average pizza. I’m a huge fan of Grande mozzarella, top quality and always delicious, just needs to be dialed back a bit on the thickness. The dough has terrific texture and flavor in the spots that aren’t soggy, just could use some crisping to match the dryness and tastiness of the crust. Overall, this is very, very good pizza; they just need a lighter load of ingredients. Scale back the quantity of sauce & cheese, and crisp up the dough with higher heat or longer time in the oven and this pie could score in the 8s. As it stands, it’s still the second-best pizza in Sea Isle City next to Phil’s.
