A plain, a white, and the last one is mustard with sausage from Papa’s Tomato Pies in Robbinsville, NJ. The Trenton tomato pie is oft overlooked pizza but in my opinion it’s up there with the great pizzas of NY and New Haven, CT. The crust is very thin and crispy. Not as thin as a bar pie but little to no chew. Sauce was just right, not sweet but savory with some oregano. Cheese was a dry mozzarella with not much grease. Ratio was spot on. The plain pie I give an 8.2. Definitely worth a detour.
I have been to Papa’s several times but have never mustered up the courage to order a mustard pie. I did this time and really liked it. The mustard is present but subtle. I got it with sausage on the advice from my waitress and it was a good pairing. I highly recommend it.
The white pie was for my kids. It’s not actually on the menu but they will make whatever you want. We got it with just mozzarella no ricotta. They loved it. I put some garlic powder on it and enjoyed a slice also.
