Basic Cheese Pizza
I've been gone from NYC for a few months now, so hopefully my taste buds haven't degraded.
This is a thin pizza, which is generally how I like them. There is kind of a flop, the tip succumbs to gravity (first 1.5-2 inches), but it's not sloppy. There's a little bit of grease, but cheese has grease, so that wasn't a problem.
I liked the cheese: good flavor, not overpowering, and slightly buttery. It didn’t have too much cheese where we have lava sliding onto the lips. In fact, there was no cheese shiftage. They sprinkled a bit of oregano on top, which I like, it changes the flavor up just a little.
The sauce was good. It’s got a bit of tang to it. I think it tasted fresh (~), but it did taste wholesome. I prefer wholesome over fresh personally. It was not runny at all, but it also wasn’t a dry slice.
The dough was good. A slight buttery taste, and almost a flaky texture. Not entirely memorable, but it was good. Almost no char. No crunch, except for the crust. I thought that the crust left me wanting something more.
Overall, I really liked this slice. Really good bar-pizza, it might work as football pizza. I’ll let you be the judge of that. The pizzas come in a custom Parry’s box, which I think is necessary if you’re going to called it NY style. I recently had another slice, and I had the exact same experience (consistent quality). $2 a slice is a FAIR price. I like this place. It reminds me of NYC. I’ll definitely be coming back to try the margherita.
Parry’s Pizza. Lincoln and Peoria. 7.3. That’s a review.
