I love tomato pie but was just so mushy . Loved the sauce but I need crunch w all that sauce. Texture did not do it for me . If crispy could be high 7’s but mushy crust puts you in the 6’s. I wanted to like it like LB spumoni but this was not close

Wowie what a tomato pie. Simple, but delicious tomato sauce and an enjoyable cheese underneath. Well cooked undercarriage and a nice crunch on the crust. The dough isn’t trying to replicate your standard jersey slice, but it does a good job being unique. Great way to end a day of thrifting.

These slices were scorching hot on this thanksgiving morning, but it was a solid slice! Comparative to Kate and Al’s, they are on the same level. Solid 7.5 hell yeah happy thanksgiving!

Tasty crust, very tasty sauce. Better than expected

Slightly better than Kate and Al’s. Sauce is a little bland. Light and airy. Solid though.

That crunch with the soft fluffy dough. Tasty sauce and cheese. So good. The dough taste itself is plain, but the overall taste is experience great.

Square slice for $2.50. Unlike Trenton tomato pie style, this has delicious mozzarella cheese. Crisp crust and a very fresh tasting tomato sauce. No spices. Surprising airy and light crust. Got an end and middle piece. Both very good.

I don't know how they do it but this stuff is addictive. Airy, crispy crust. Delicious sauce. every bite better than the next. It's the first place the kids hit when they visit. The best and most unique. Better than Kate and Al's.

Awesome first slice sweet sauce and crispy crust with nice hard cheese up top. Great initial crisp and melty cheese but the sauce is the star here what a slice! Gotta try these places if your near!

Pizza Backlog 10 | 3/13/2021 | Pete’s Pizza at Columbus Market in Columbus, New Jersey will forever be linked to Kate & Al’s, the pizza joint a few hundred yards away in the same market, because one stemmed from the other and both places make an extremely similar pie. But I never did a proper shootout between the two until yesterday. Lo and behold, they’re less similar than I thought. Pete’s seems to have even less cheese than Kate & Al’s and they use a sweeter dough than their sister pizzeria (this dough, which is almost Easter bread/challah-esque, is reminiscent of the square pie’s from Brooklyn Square Pizza in Jackson, NJ). But instead of trying to identify other differences, I just made note of those two and drifted back into pizza heaven. Sure, I still think Kate & Al’s—9.8: my current and probably forever highest score—is better than Pete’s, which I admit could just be a familiarity thing (I’ve had Kate & Al’s hundreds of times and Pete’s twice). But it’s a Beatles/Beach Boys or LeBron/Jordan situation and that is to say one is only a sliver higher than the other. I’ll do a 9.6 to put it above my former second highest-rated pizza (Mamma Rosa’s in Hamilton, New Jersey) but below Kate & Al’s. And yes, I put more thought into this than any paper I wrote in college.

Re-rate. Still one of my favorite pizzas in New Jersey. Tomato sauce is amazing, not at crispy as usual. Love it.

Excellent pizza! The sauce is to die for and is the main reason for my high score. Also, the crust was very good as well. One of the better square pizzas I’ve had!

Another star player at the Columbus Farmers Market. Similar style to Kate & Al’s, but with a lighter, fluffier crust.

Great pizza. Similar to the pizza from home Santucci’s. Worth the wait in the mart madness.

Crust is light, tasty, and supports the “mess” heaved upon it. Sauce is sweet and delicious. The pepperoni is the freshest and best I’ve ever had on a pizza. Tremendous pie overall.

Amazing texture a d flavors. Melts in your mouth. Light and fluffy crust but strong enough to hold onto the ton of fresh tomatoes on top. Cheese under the sauce is mild and creamy. This is a pizza we plan a day around. It’s served in the most bizarre market in NJ but it’s amazing.

Not generally my style but it was good. Sweeter sauce and good cheese but the dough was the highlight for sure. Super light and super fluffy.
