Such an overdue trip to get to this place and try this pizza everyone on FB and blogs were loving. Thus I was probably the most excited I've been to try a pizza all year. And that's saying A LOT. The place was outstanding, games in the front nice bar area in the back, high ceilings, well lit, kitchen open to see. 8.9 on the place itself. Would love to hang out there if I was a local. Staff was great and kind too even as they were busy. Thus, now my real review of why I went there, the pizza. You go in the place and it smells good, but it doesn't knock my D*** off like an 8.9 Georgioz (highest in Iowa) does. Get the pie, looks great! Looks like I just found an 8! So excited. Didn't let it sit but 3 mins in the box to make sure I got a good hot slice. 😋 cheese looked fresh but not as stringy as a high 8 would be, but I wasn't going to let looks deter me...the second I bit into the crust...big problems...very stale cornmeal (I think, because it was so bad and bland and even finer than most) was all over the bottom of the crust. And that was not an accident but by design. Sooo disappointing. This pizza and crust definitely does not need this. It hurt the entire pizza, which wasn't an 8 (which by looks alone I thought it would be) but more around a 7.7 if there wasn't stale very bland cornmeal (I think) on the bottom. So disappointing. I know why locals love it, but why cornmeal (I think) for your crust? Switch to full flour. The way it's baked, it's not a crust or pizza that devours cornmeal (or whatever it was). It's a very light crust and had decent taste outside that. I wish I would be back...but I probably won't 😕
