Pizza Garden Downtown

The pizza isn’t terrible. Good, by Vancouver standards. It’s the exact same ownership and recipes as La Ruota, but worse. They put on less sauce, cheese and toppings. Twice in a row I’ve put an extra $5 for full coverage of basil, which they’ve gladly taken, and provided the standard basil. This location is subpar in customer service/experience

El Pres has inspired me to rate cheese pizza. All my life I've been a guy that eats his pizza with just about anything on it (and extremely rarely just cheese), but now I'm inspired to enjoy pizza in it's minimalist form. My first attempt (first rating) was a miss-step, but Pizza Garden fulfilled my need for a basic, hot out of the oven, cheese pizza. The whole pie looked good sitting in the box. Pizza Garden does claim to be "Authentic Neapolitan Pizza," but 6.8 does not reflect my first impression, even before the first bite. Breaking out the first slice still smoking hot, the fold presented no flop, but potentially a bit greasy. Burned my mouth like a Dave on the first bite. Not super crispy, but I'm not looking for cracker crisp either. Maybe overall not as "light" as I might like, but pretty delicious. I've had good pizza here in the past and this met my expectation today so I'm going 7.7, solid.

Got the Calabria. Solid pizza. Not much sauce or cheese. Not a thick slice but lots of bread, bread and crust are good. Very filling.

Zero flop straight as an arrow, hardly any sauce, pepperoni was tasty, cheese was mediocre Frankie. Crust was decent at best

Known for its late night slices as you’re crawling off Granville street, Pizza Garden is surprisingly a great pizza shop. Quick, cheap, fresh, by the slice goodness. Definitely stop in for a quick pit stop on the way home or on your way out
