Other than a thin coal or wood fired Pizza, Detroit style has become my second favorite! Pizza wizard is situated in what appears to be an small old garage, but once you enter you realize that it's an extremely modern recently renovated restaurant with ample seating and a gorgeous direct view kitchen! They have a large selection of slices that are all reasonably priced, and very cleverly named! I went with their garlic bread slice a pepperoni slice and they're special of the week which was called the shit house rat! LOL. All three of them had a nice fluffy dough with fantastic flavor and crunch for days !! My favorite was the shit house rat, but this score is cumulative as they were all so good that I'm just going to give their pizza a score in general. The staff was really kind as well and we talked pizza for quite a while while my slices were in the oven. Not that it's their fault, but parking here is a slight issue, as it seems that they don't get along with the business directly beside them, as there are signs that say no parking for pizza customers in front of the business next door! Lol

Finally made it here and it didn’t disappoint. Excellent pizza and my first time trying Detroit style. Anytime I’m in the city I’ll be coming here for lunch.

Though Detroit style isn’t my favorite type of pizza, I really enjoyed Pizza Wizard. The crust is thick, but it’s fluffy and light. It never overstays its welcome or makes you feel like you’re eating a loaf of bread. The sauce was quite good, though I would’ve preferred a little bit more on a deep dish pie like this one. The cheese was melted and crispy around the edges, and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The vibe in the restaurant is very cool, and there’s plenty of seating available. Everything was very affordable as well, and I wish I ordered another pizza to take home with me. My biggest regret is that I didn’t buy one of the shirts they were selling. Seriously, they have the best merch. If you’re in the area, Pizza Wizard is worth checking out. Even if you’re on the fence about Detroit style pizza, you should stop by and buy one of their shirts. You won’t be disappointed either way!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for quite a while now. I finally got the chance, and i have to say, i was kind of let down. The dough was super light considering how thick it was, but it was kind of tough to chew through. The crispy cheese edge, while it looks appealing, left a weird bitter taste in your mouth. Almost like the cheese they used was mozz and extra sharp cheddar? I know Detroit Pizza typical uses Mozz and Brick cheese, but this left a really undesirable bitterness in my mouth. The sauce was very zesty, not sweet, and kind of acidic tasting. As for the chicken wing pizza, it was ok. Nothing to write home about other than clunky pieces of onion. Onion on pizza in my opinion, should be thinner strands, should i say slivers? This was like 1 inch squares of raw onion. It was overpowering. The hot sauce was good, the blue cheese was good, the chicken was mehhh. I perfer breaded chicken cutlet chopped up on my chicken wing pizza. This was just wierd pieces of regular chicken. To each their own though. I’ll give it a 7.1 just because its different. Worth a try… i guess.

The 8.0 is a very close score for what this is. Let’s go! Fresh, thick and crispy dough. They have only one size so it is, what it is. It was well cooked so no undercooked slices here. The tray was lined with butter to give you a crispy crust and bottom. There was a small amount of grease left over but that was due to the butter from the pan. This is a Chicago style with the sauce on top. The sauce itself is flavorful and robust which is appreciated. The cheese is fresh, standard mozzarella but its good. In conclusion, this is very much like garlic bread with pizza toppings. I appreciate what they have here and it’s incredibly fresh.
