Police Station Pizza

The crisp/crunch of the crust is fantastic. Everything else about this pizza was a disappointment. It’s not terrible, but it certainly doesn’t taste like a 8+ pizza. I don’t understand Yinzers and their idea of what good pizza is, but this isn’t it.

Alright Frankie, at this place the first thing they ask you isn’t “what can I get for you?”…they ask you “how many?” In the 10 minutes I was there I’ve never seen so much pizza leave one joint. But I can see why. They pile up this pizza with cheese before they bake it and it comes out perfectly cheesy. They even put some more on it right before they hand it to you. The crust is like a Sicilian but light and perfectly crispy. One thing about this pizza is even with all the cheese, there’s no grease at all. It’s a very satisfying slice and you can tell everyone in town goes there.

Visiting my in laws from Maryland and used One Bite to steer me in the right direction for some pie. They open at 4pm, drove by at 3:57pm and there was already a line. Called in the order and dude on the phone got me straight on what to order. When I went inside, he knew it was me from the phone, so I got rang up and waited with my son. People kept pouring in and seemed to all be local. Meanwhile dude that took my order over the phone asked how I found them if I hadn’t been there before. I let him know I looked it up on One Bite. Next thing I know, a different young gentleman brought out my box and proceeded to tell me to go ahead and try it…In front of everyone there…it hit me as I was walking out, he must think I’m El Prez. I was dying. 8.3 score on the pizza. About as good as this style of pizza gets. Fresh ingredients, not greasy, cooked to perfection. 5.1 score on their social media knowledge. They know Dave exist, but have no clue what he looks like. Prez, hit them up soon!!

Had to get 24 slices after the MRI on my finger didn’t look so good. I have been wanting to try this place for an absurd amount of time. On Facebook it was voted best pizza in the Pittsburgh area in a bracket. I just knew I would like this place. Police Station is one of those rare pizza places that I consider an institution. Even though it was only my first time there, I could tell how much this pizza means to people. That being said the pizza was good. It’s not as good as Osso’s but maybe second best square pizza in the Western PA area? The sauce was good, but I like a cracker thin crust on my square pizza. The cheese was a blend of three different cheeses. Surprisingly, not including mozzarella. They said it was because the pizza would get too greasy, which I respect. I liked this place a lot more than Frank’s in town, but it didn’t blow my socks off. Anyway enjoy my long review and check this place out.

I’ve traveled to 46 states and Police Station Pizza is #1 in my book. Even more incredible the next day when you heat it up in a toaster.

Second stop on the Bauer Pizza Tour was Police Station Pizza in Ambridge. Sicilian pizza with no grease at all. Crispy but not burnt crust. Pepperoni was unreal. Cheese was creamy and thick. Could have had a little more sauce. The kids loved it!!! The Bauers gave it an overall score of 9.1. Super high score.

Alright Frankie, best square cut pizza you’re gonna find. Crunch is perfect, it’s crispy crunchy and think. The guy below me doesn’t know what he’s talking about. The pizza comes out hot, toppings and extra cheese go on cold. You eat it and it’s the perfect balance. Ying and yang Frankie. Been eating this stuff my whole life grew up on this stuff. It’s good stuff best in the burgh.

If you take it home and actually heat it up it’s okay. But cold pizza from the pizza maker isn’t acceptable. They bake the sauce on the crust and add cold toppings and cheese after the fact. Many better pizza shops around.

Obviously not traditional pizza... Square Sicilian style, by the slice, freshest dough and sauce around! 70 years in the pizza biz and you can taste why!!!

Best pizza i’ve had in the Pittsburgh area. It is definitely best enjoyed fresh out of the oven. It’s a thick, fluffy slice and has a nice crunch. The sauce and cheese deliver a lot of flavor. I highly recommend trying it. Overall, an excellent pizza. (8.9)

Alright Frankie, wild place. Busy every time you go in. Real old school feel. One bite everybody knows the rules. This is a staple on this side of the river. A must have every time I’m home from FL. Good crunch. No Beaver Cahnty flop. Quality ingredients. I’m between the eights or the nines. Keeping in mind that this is a way different style, solid 9.1.
