When I moved to New Jersey one of the things everybody told me was that pizza was so much better here than in Pennsylvania. I agree… some.
When I moved to Central Jersey in 2020 I found many decent places and a couple of good shops but not killer pizza everywhere. So when I moved to South Jersey last year I STILL had to try a lot of pizza places to find REALLY GOOD pizza. So far there are five pizza places I really recommend in South Jersey: Filippo’s in Glassboro, Polozzi’s Brick Oven (Detroit style) and SLICE in Sewell, Brooklyn’s Original Pizzeria in Haddon Heights, and Rosalia’s in Berlin.
Rosalia’s two sauces are both slightly sweet with good garlic and oregano notes. I tend to prefer chunky marinara but I think both of their sauces are really good… Excellent flavor.
Their crust is thin and crispy while being slightly chewy which is what I like. Great undercarriage… Minimal flop. Lastly, they have good choices and cheese… Slightly slightly greasy but still very good. Their pizzas not soupy at all.
The two I’m reviewing here are the Jersey Tomato pie (pictured - which is cheese on the bottom - sauce on the top and grated Parm.) I had them add sausage which is really good. The other pie is a Grandma‘s thin square and I had them add basil. It has the same general vibe as a margarita but I think it tastes better.
I have had some top ranked pies likr Palermo’s, Lillo’s, Papa’s Original Tomato Pie, DeLorenzo’s and Marcello’s/Sally’s Slices (“The Best!”) so I know great pies vs mediocre pies, and Rosalita’s is a hidden gem. Nice people too. The owner or owner’s son took my order and made me two perfect pies. This is the third time I’ve ordered pizza from them and every pie I’ve gotten was EXCELLENT.
I also know it’s really good because my kids devour their pies in MINUTES.
