Rosario's Pizzeria East Utica

Since I was born and raised in Utica and last had pizza here as a sophomore and junior in high school, I had high hopes. Unfortunately my score had to be lowered as the pizza was not only on the doughy side it also had a slight aftertaste (dough was a bit sour). On the positive side it looks better than the score and it’s generous with the cheese, which I do prefer. The undercarriage looked good but it should/could have been crispier. A couple of more minutes in the oven would give it upside for low 7s.

Fresh sauce, soft crust, Utica style. Get the hot sauce!!!

Rosario’s has me torn because the Chicken Bacon Ranch slice is wonderful but the classic cheese leave much to desire. Everything about the this slice taste very generic. The sauce has little to no tang at all and the sauce/cheese to dough ratio is way off. Every bite was a huge bite of dough with very little cheese or sauce to accompany it. Moral of the story for a specialty slice like CBR they do it well but if cheese is what you’re looking for there is better available. “Score based solely on cheese.”
