With locations also in Staten Island and Matawan, NJ, Round Pie Pizza Company appears to be an expanding franchise, but not like Domino’s, Papa Johns, or Little Caesars pizza chains; this is quality pizza. Having originated in Staten Island I believe, the taste & texture of this pie is strikingly similar to Denino’s. But unlike Denino’s more “football style pizza,” these slices are razor thin, dough has tremendous taste & texture and a mega crispy, crunchy crust that will knock your socks off. Seems like a semolina seeded or corn meal undercarriage that keeps the pie dry & moisture free. The flop is minimal, just a tad floppy near the top of each slice due to the weight of the sauce & cheese. This is somewhat of an “upside down pie,” with splotches of sauce atop the cheese, not blanketed underneath. A smidge greasy from the butter fat in the whole milk cheese, but very manageable. With a combo of chunky tomatoes and a puréed blend, the sauce is super sweet, kind of similar to Sunday gravy (real Italians know 🇮🇹 🤌🏻) that you’d put on pasta. Even though the sauce could use a pinch more spice, it’s very solid overall. The cheese is top quality, well-melted, creamy and delicious. In summation, the texture of the pie is tremendous with taste to match, crispy & flavorful, not cookie-cutter, generic, crappy chain pizza…this is “off the chain” pizza! While I’m not sure about the other locations, I can vouch for Old Bridge. Great style and service overall, top-notch pizza worth traveling for; I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
