Rubirosa

Pretty disappointing cheese pizza. Crust was too flaky and the cheese was too chewy. Tasted like reheated day old pizza. The tie dye pie was far superior - mainly for its excellent vodka sauce. That pie would’ve scored in the 8s. Overall, not worth the 2+ hour sit down or the deceptively long 1+ hour takeout wait.

Loved the Tie Dye pizza. Lots of flavor and good crunch. Some flop but not a deal breaker with this one.

The waiter said, “we have awesome pizza” and he was right. Coal fired, light crispy and awesome tang to the sauce. A better version of Joe and Pats (and it’s the same owners too)

It's always a blur reviewing srufd from a pizza event. This was not cooked in their normal oven, it was a wood fired version at the Slice Out Hunger event, so the crust isn't exactly the same. But I really like the Tie Die Slice. That's what they're known for. Rubirosa is an offshoot of Joe and Pat's in Staten Island. The tie die slice has pesto, vodka sauce, tomato sauce, and fresh mozzarella. I won't comment that much on the crust but that combo makes a great burst of flavor without being overwhelming. I can imagine this on their signature thin the whole way though crust. For now, I'm gonna give a placeholder score of 8.0 mainly based on flavor alone. I'm sure they used the same dough recipe as usual, it was just wood fired and not opened as thin. Can't wait to try the real thing in Manhattan.

A crust that nearly causes earthquakes, flavor is fresh, and a half classic half vodka is an absolute must.

Wow Rubirosa is very good. Went with the tie dye pie which is what they are known for and it was very good. I imagine the simple cheese or pepperoni would be amazing. Cheese on the pie was good, overall just a good tasting pie.
