Pizza Review
Ok time for another pizza review and this one hits close to home, or at least close to the office. Royal Pizza at the corner of James and Duke. I have been to this plaze dozens of times for a slice but never done a review. This is another neighbourhood takeout spot with a handful of tables. They also do a pretty good chicken shawarma. The staff are routinely bickering with eachother. This is what Crabby Joe’s was aiming for, I think, but never delivered on. The staff will chirp at eachother, and even customers, all day long and then throw in the odd smirk so you know it’s what keeps them going all day. Love it! The pizza is standard take out. This is the pizza I want to order when I just want to watch some sports and drink a beer. It’s a little doughey, little chewy, little crispy. The sauce is standard but I love their pepperoni. Again, it’s not fancy but I love it. Cheese is typical. It just works though. There are pizzas that try hard and fail and then this one just shows up for work every day. The score - 7.5. I know, I know. I’m a little biased but for me this is the best cheap takeout in the city. It’s 8.99 for a medium one topping and It beats all of the chain stores. Just a little recap for you on the spots I’ve reviewed so far. I havent had an 8.5 yet in the Hammer. I know you are out there somewhere. Shorty’s - 8.2 Son of a Peach - 8.2 Mattina Pizzeria- 8.1 Royal Pizza - 7.5 Lazio Pizza and Wings - 7.4 Rad Pizza Company - 7.1 Buona Vita Pizza - 6.8 Alfredo’s Place - 6.5 Capri Ristorante - 6.3 Dough Box - 4.2 Italian Quality Pizza and Wings - 0.0 Buffalo New York La Nova - 8.1 Goodfellas Niagara Falls, NY - 7.1 I still have a ton of places to review including NaRoma, Earth to Table Bread Bar, Frat’s, Aceti’s, Bronzi’s, The Attic and many more.
