Big yikes from me guys. I used to go to Sanfratello’s at their original house location in Illinois years back when it was open. I’m back in the area and went to this location. Maybe it’s just this Highland, but I don’t ever remember Sanfratello’s being well-done. Well in this case, burnt black. You can’t tell from the top, but the bottom of the dough shouldn’t taste like charcoal. It really ruined everything for me. If I scrape the top off to get the real flavor, it’s a light sauce with a hint of sweet. Not sure if that’s from the sauce or the sausage. Sausage is mild and juicy. Tastes almost like a breakfast sausage. Pepperoni is classic with a little spice. However, the overall saltiness is a little over the top. I need a beer for this one. Work on the quality control of what’s leaving the kitchen and this would’ve hit the 6’s.
