Solid pie. The crust was super crisp however overall it was cooked a little to well for my liking. The pizza got better as it cooled as the cheese eventually had that nice stringy snap once it was scolding hot.

Al Santillo’s pizza is awesome. Al is a awesome guy. Everything about the place is first class. I drove 7 hours for this pizza. Worth every minute of the drive. Thank you Al. You are a pizza legend.

Phenomenal. Worth the trip and Al is a Pizza and NJ treasure. Absolutely delicious. The crust was so good as was the entire pizza !! Can’t wait to go back

Overrated. Basic pizza. It tries to look the part but the taste wasn’t there

Wow what can you say other than “Crunch” the crust is the star of the show and if you like a tangy oregano sauce you will go crazy . I got the 64 cooked 8.5 w half eggplant and thats the way to go maybe do an 8 next time. Unique pizza tons of flavor and the crust is beyond anything you will ever have. Get some bread while there worth the trip alone. Sandwiches meh and overpriced pizza homerun

This pizza was unique! Kinda gave me school pizza vibes but the BEST version of that. Crust was phenomenal and I will definitely be back!

I’ve never had a pizza quite like this one. Ordered the 1964 i believe and the crust might be the best i ever had

We ordered the 1957 and 1964 and had a slice of each as soon as the box was handed to us. I guess the bar was set way too high as it didn’t meet our expectations. Love the crunch of the crust for both but overall average.

Santillo's was the very first place I booked marked when I downloaded the app after watching the prez's review, and seeing how hilarious Al was. In that regard this visit went almost exactly like I had planned, as I walked down the narrow alley in between santillo's and the place beside it and had to yell my order through a storm door window. Lo and behold some younger kid comes to the window to take my order and I told him that I drove over 6 hours to get here and I was on a pizza trip to hit all the top spots in Jersey and asked if I could get a picture with Al. Al asked me to come inside and I hung out and talk to Pizza while he made orders for about 15 to 20 minutes, he was exactly like he acted in the barstool video, and that was definitely not an act! Well he may be opinionated he is extremely proud of his product and prepares each Pizza like it's his very last! When Al asked what I wanted I told him that I had to do a review of a cheese pizza, but that what style of pie I received was up to him, as he has dozens of different styles of crusts and cook times, all of which are named by the year they originally came out. He made me the 1964 and cooked it for 9 minutes, and the rest is history! More crunch than you could ever ask for and the flavor on this is unlike anything I'd ever had! Often times I go to a nationally famous spot with extremely high expectations and I'm slightly let down, this happened most famously at Sally's in New Haven, however the exact opposite happened in this instance! I went there with just as high expectations as I had for any of the places in New Haven, and santillos came through and not only match them but exceeded what I had hoped for! As of this writing, this is my only 9.5, and is my highest score in over 100 reviews, which include the likes of all of the top dogs from New Haven and the greater Boston area! I'm really glad I made the trip out here to give santillo's a review while Al was still running the show, because there's no knowing how much longer he's going to work.

Got the extra thin pizza, well done and 18”. It was amazing, everything was top notch down to the cheese and the sauce. I’ve seen people complain about the sauce but I thought it was perfect. The crust was really nice and had a perfect crunch. The only downside is the price, pretty expensive. Either way the pizza was great and I’d love to try the other styles

I’ve been to this legendary haven before. This time it was an an asburdly pleasant experience. Due to Covid they have a bell to ring in the alley to pick up your pizza and then they hand it to you in a pizza size mail slip door. Putting this aside, the pizza is fantastic but not a “10” like I thought it was prior to eating pizza on this app.

Got the 1957 8 min. Sauce is thick and very heavy on the oregano. Crust is electric. I can see how this is a love or hate pie though. Not for everyone but glad I tried it. Would go back for some of Al’s other pies

Not worth the price. Sauce is overcooked. The best thing is the crust and crispness of the pie. Stupid expensive and Al Santillo is a bit of a curmudgeon.

Lots of hype and I wanted it to be a great pie. For me, it was a very good pie. The craftsmanship and quality warrants a score in the 8’s absolutely. The crust was light and thin and not floppy cooked to order perfect. The cheese was also very good. But I just felt and this is just me, the sauce was too robust. Maybe it has fennel seeds in it possibly because I got a taste of black licorice at times which I didn’t like. But overall a very high quality pizza that’s been doing it for generations and knows how to do it!

Tried all the highly rated pizza places on the East Coast New Haven, New York and New Jersey and Al makes the best pie by far. Definitely worth the trip!
