I was expecting a lot coming into this review, I’ve been all around the country trying the best pizza. Satchels is famous in the Gainesville area for their delicious pizza, though expanding and opening up a totally different restaurant concept has its risks. I’m basically Dave’s right hand man when it comes to pizza reviews, I can test the pizza and know what he’s going to score every time. It’s amazing. Satch Squared was a solid pizza, but the sauce was the thing holding it back. It had a sour and an overcooked taste, I believe they cook the sauce in batches then cook it again when they put it on the pizza. Which is a mistake, you want to taste a fresh tomatoey sauce when that’s the first thing you bite into (the sauce is on top of the cheese). Upgrade the sauce before Dave Portnoy shows up.

Served hot and fresh. I should have ordered the cheese pizza because the pepperoni made this very greasy. Crispy crust as well. Good Detroit style.

deep dish detroit style with very crispy tasty crust. sauce tangy and full of flavor. pepps were also crispy and provided good contract to sauce. atmosphere A+. came back for 2nds worth a drive out

Lineman pizza. It’s like biting into a toasted loaf of bread. I can see the appeal for some but definitely not anywhere near the 8s. Sauce is sweet but it definitely needs more cheese.

Pizza always comes out hot and fresh with a great crisp! Satch2 also has the BEST gluten free pizza option of any place in Gainesville and possibly Florida. The options for toppings are immaculate and really tasty. This place was my go to pizza place for a year when I lived around the corner. A nice Detroit style pizza that never fails to deliver.

After going to basically all the pizza places in Gainesville, Satch Squared is by far the tastiest and crispiest slice you’ll get. I’m normally not for this style of pizza but I crave this one. Really Crispy, super flavorful Sauce and this picture does not do it justice! And Lowkey hard to find on the one bite app…

I went for the meat grinder so obviously it was her toppings heavy. (Good thing). Pizza is deep dish style. (Also good thing). Cool location with a lot of outdoor seating. Crust is amazing. The pizza as a whole is perfection They serve beer from first magnitude brewing. Great beer. Get the 72 pale ale. Side note just tried the pepperoni hot honey. Amazing. Maybe better than the meat grinder. Overall one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Side note, get a side of waffles.

I’m not going to lie that was a baller pizza. The sauce is nice and tangy but I could have used a little more sauce. They cook the crust perfectly and it has some wonderful crunchy and the dough of the pizza isn’t too doughy at all. Really great spot to hit in Gainesville if you’re into Chicago style/deep dish pizzas. You won’t be disappointed. Honestly better than the original satchels by a big margin.
