Shane & Penney's Slice of Chicago

Had to redo this…I gave them too light of a score the first time.

I decided to try both thin and pan crust. Pan crust, as seen in the picture, is very thick and will fill you up quickly. It looked great and you could tell it wasn’t a frozen pizza crust. Overall great pizza. Thin crust was slightly behind the pan but still great and better than many pizza places. Overall still a good looking pizza. Combined score of 8.1.

One bite, everybody knows the rules. This is by far the best pizza in Monroe County. This is the deep pan from Slice of Chicago in Sparta. If you are a deep dish aficionado, do not expect this to be Chicago deep dish. It’s not supposed to be and it should be appreciated as it is, its own entity. Side note: Chicagoans eat thin crust and deep dish is mainly for the tourists. I digress. The pizza has a lot of dough for the crust. Decent crunch on the outside. While the crust is extremely thick, the body of the slice is thinner. No flop. Pizza has a good cheese to sauce ratio. I appreciate that this pizza is not overly cheesy. I did get a bit of grease drip and some sauce lava. Sauce has more spice than tang. Due to the amount of crust, don’t expect to eat more than two slices. High quality ingredients and a pie worth traveling for. Service is top notch and the friendliest people you will meet. 8.3, my highest score to date. That’s the review.
