Alright Frankie today we are at “slabtown cider company” where apples grow
and legends are born — located at 4559 Concession Road 6, Uxbridge, ON, L9P 1R4, Canada (review time 1pm August 6th 2024)
Their mission is to create cider that would make your great grandad smile — what a great motto —
Multiple people have told us about this place and as they say , Slabtown Cider Co. might be new but their roots and heritage run deep. It’s a family-owned and operated cidery and orchard. Located on the Oak Ridges Moraine just south of Uxbridge and surrounded by forest, trails and rolling fields. Founded in 2017, they have been working very hard to revitalize over 90 acres of historic fields into one of Canada’s largest collections of unique heritage heirloom apple cider varieties.
Established in 1870, the Siloam hamlet of Randallville historically held 10 houses, a post office, a school … and a lumber mill.
The original settlement town, which focussed on the lumber and sawmill industry, quickly became known as “Slab Town” because of the piles of wood slabs stored around the mill.
After experiencing the boom-and-bust of the lumber industry, the town eventually disappeared along with the local supply of logs.
They have made it part of their mission to preserve the history of Slab Town, Uxbridge and the historic orchards of Siloam and When your business invests in and restores the community like Slabtown Cider Co. has proven , people love you , then the addition of Investing in your people will help you to create a strong team who are committed and have shared goals and values within your organization and can have great benefits for your workforce, customer base, profits, and thus puts the business in a position where they can give back to the community — and when employees witness their employer investing back in their community it tends to develop a stronger sense of belonging and pride in the organization plus passion … these ingredients are needed for success. That’s a lesson in business Frankie! But we obviously came here today to try the pizza and it’s going to be the margherita as this is the closest pizza on the menu to the basic cheese that we always base our scores off of before trying others on the menu — the other score of 9.1 on here is not judged on the basic pizza 🍕— so we thought we’d come and do a review as well — One Bite Everyone Knows The Rule…
Plus You know how the prez professionally scores the neapolitan style pies , even though this Slabtown pizza is only 50%.neapolitan style, we follow his professional formula which has neapolitan starting at 7/10 before you even try it! But that’s a round number so we are forced to start with 6.9, but that’s a sexual number, and this is a kid friendly review, so the base starting score for the neapolitan is 6.8 (Some would say the prez is unfair in the way way he scores the neapolitan Frankie - we wouldn’t, some would - we wouldn’t)
Ok here we go , good Wood oven pie ,
bit of a neapolitan vibe crust to the center where it gets a little thicker, more like a traditional bar pie style in the middle and not thin but floppy , nice fresh bocconcini cheese , Crust super doughy , 1/2 Fresh sauce 1/2 sauce from a can , Undercarriage not enough char … now we were one of the first pizzas that were made in the wood oven that day, and there is a general consensus that a wood oven needs a few hours to heat up and therefore our pie might not have been the norm. Regardless, we enjoyed it very much and it was very tasty and we will be back. — We try them all we score them 1-10 / one bite everyone knows the rule / bite it / score it 1 thru 10 ~> 7.4 (professional score) “slabtown cider company” —
