Even though they’re known for their “world famous” French Fry Pizza, I passed on that and went with a large plain cheese pie instead. I love French fries and pizza separately, but fries are not a pizza topping I find particularly appetizing. That being said, their cheese pizza didn’t exactly knock my socks off. The dough is thickish, somewhat soft with a firm, rigid texture, almost sandpaper-like, very dry with little-to-no crisp, standard boardwalk/beach flavored dough. The pie is shockingly super saucy, with way more sauce than cheese on the pizza, which is rather rare. The sauce isn’t bad, not great either, somewhat sweet, thick, a tad bland with slight spice, spread very generously. The sauce outweighs the cheese, which is thinly layered, tight, boringly generic with a smidge of char. The crust is massive, soft & doughy, undercooked on one half of the pie, crisped on the other half, not particularly tasty. Overall, this pizza is on par with expectations for your average beach pie. This joint serves breakfast, lunch, fast food, ice cream…just too much going on to focus on making good pizza. If you’re coming off the beach and starving for a slice, you could do worse; but there is also much better pizza in the vicinity. Even though I didn’t try their “world famous” French Fry pizza, I can’t imagine it would score much better, if at all.
