Pizza is very good. You need to be in the bar pounding a Coors Light and make sure to get the pie well done.

If you’re from North Jersey, you already know; if you’re from out of state, you probably won’t understand but when it comes to bar pies, this is about as good as it gets. Serving some of the best thin crust pizza for over 65 years, Star Tavern has achieved legendary status in NJ. Very simple, very tasty, thin, crispy and delicious bar pies at their best. Nothing fancy about the cheese, sauce or dough but it all works together to give you that old school neighborhood bar pie flavor that can’t be duplicated by your average pizzeria. It’s very easy to finish an entire pie by yourself, so order a bunch if you’re with a group of people. And it doesn’t travel particularly well, much better to eat on site, hot & fresh. A lot of sentimental value & nostalgia in my rating but you’d be hard pressed to find anyone from Jersey who has had it before score lower.

Great bar pizza! Pepperoni was a little bit on the greasy side, but the 3 cheese was amazing. Next time I’d order extra crisp.

I’ve had the Star over 15 times but never actually had the app to review it. It’s how pizza should taste. This is my baseline. It’s better than Ralph’s. In regards to Dave’s review, they don’t claim not bar pizza. They are the bar pizza. It’s so thin, small, right amount of greasy, cheesy, and saucy. I could eat two pies to my face. And it’s the best.

Absolutely delicious pizza. If you’re in north New Jersey, you NEED to stop and try this place. It’s fantastic. Can’t wait to go back.

Best pizza in NJ, hands down. Order a double pepperoni, extra crispy.

Pretty good for a bar pie, lil greasy though. Local dive bar vibe

This is our go to for pizza. I know most of the reviews are plain, but double pepperoni and we’ll done if the only way to go IMO. Dave had this one wrong.

Been coming here since I was a little kid, but this is the 1st time I ever ranked it. A little burnt on the bottom but it adds to the flavor. The flop is solid and the cheese runs off the slice. It’s a bar pie so it’s naturally smaller in size but it packs a punch.

Heads up! These pies are super thin & super floppy! (These pies were not well done!) The sauce is kinda bland; good cheese distribution with a light under carriage. The crust on the Peppers/Onion was noticeably thicker for whatever reason. Special Trip worthy; Probably Not In the Neighborhood; Check it Out!

This place is an institution. Great thin crust and sweet sauce....don’t honestly know why the score is lower than I believe it should be? C’mon...

Great tasting thin crust. Would have gave it an 8 if it was little less salty.

Thin crust. Absolutely delicious. Cheese and sauce all the way to the end of the slice. Gold standard pizza.
