If you’re from North Jersey, you already know; if you’re from out of state, you probably won’t understand but when it comes to bar pies, this is about as good as it gets. Serving some of the best thin crust pizza for over 65 years, Star Tavern has achieved legendary status in NJ. Very simple, very tasty, thin, crispy and delicious bar pies at their best. Nothing fancy about the cheese, sauce or dough but it all works together to give you that old school neighborhood bar pie flavor that can’t be duplicated by your average pizzeria. It’s very easy to finish an entire pie by yourself, so order a bunch if you’re with a group of people. And it doesn’t travel particularly well, much better to eat on site, hot & fresh. A lot of sentimental value & nostalgia in my rating but you’d be hard pressed to find anyone from Jersey who has had it before score lower.
