Pizza Review
After a day’s worth of travel on Route 66 East we arrived to Phoenix early in the morning and soon set out to find our first slice for review. The Arizona Diamondbacks are playing the San Francisco Giants and we are stopped at Streets of New York Pizza, which is apparently “the official pizza of the Diamondbacks”. The slice is accented by cornmeal rather than semolina. The slice is thick, all-texture and no flavor. The cheese is reminiscent of Costco or some other ready to grab slice that’s served in a triangle pizza box. Besides a tasteless sauce and the excessively greasy cheese, the only taste to be mentioned is the yeasty crust. Bottom line I do not know why they are calling this New York Style Pizza. Perhaps it’s aptly named because if you had this pizza in New York you would throw it down in the street. A most unfortunate start to the tour but this slice is getting a failing grade. Well below the mark of 50%, that’s an F-✌️
