Pizza Review
They’ve been slinging pies and serving Italian food at this joint since 1976. Mildly surprising, their pizza is a spitting image of the pie I had from Turiello’s, which is just one block away. They both have the same thickish, doughy, uber soft football style pizza. However, this dough isn’t as fluffy as Turiello’s and it’s slightly less tasty. The cheese is somewhat similar, mostly generic, harboring a bit more grease, but a very manageable amount. The biggest difference is in the sauce; this has much more zing, zip & zest. There’s a decent amount of spice, headlined by a smattering of oregano, providing plenty of flavor to make up for the pedestrian dough and cheese. This pie doesn’t wow and it won’t blow you away; but it’s very filling and satisfies the average pizza craving. Overall, you’re looking at a solid, blue collar, lace up your work boots and grab your lunch pail, workman-like pie. Not bad for zero crisp; might be slightly better if left in the oven a little longer. A decent neighborhood football pizza, with the sauce stealing the spotlight, while the dough and cheese come along for the ride. A virtual twin pizza of Turiello’s pies; these are seemingly the best pizza options in Nyack. However, neither one is worth going out of your way to try.
