Brooklyn Bakery across the street has some of the best thin pizza i’ve ever had, it’s temporarily closed though, so i opted for Tasta. Make sure you try Brooklyn Bakery if its open in the future. It’s run by a man and his wife in their backyard directly across from Tasta alongside the UR Medicine Building. Very cool tucked away spot with some great pizza. This place however, Tasta, is loved by some people in Olean, but i dont understand why. It’s glorified Chef Boyardee. Soft dough, with no flop and a floured undercarriage. If they’d oil the pan, it would create a nice buttery crisp, but they dont. The dough is very light and fluffy, but little no structure to it. Its like plain box mix dough. Wonder bread almost. No chewiness, no crunch, no nothing. The sauce is bland and watered down. No sweetness, no real tang to speak of, maybe a slight undertone of italian seasoning. The cheese is ok but slides right off the pizza most of the time. All in all, i’ll eat it again because i like just about any pizza, but if Renna’s is open, definitely try that before Tasta, but most importantly, pray that Brooklyn Bakery reopens.
