Ordered one plain and one special with toppings you could eat on a Friday in Lent. The plain was ok, crust was thin, but edge was overcooked, sauce lacked substance and cheese had an unusually tangy taste. The special supposedly had spinach, even though I didn’t see any and that too had the overcooked edge and extra tangy cheese. Had hoped for better. Maybe the kitchen was having an off day.

From my understanding, these are the same owners as Angeloni’s nearby, which is probably why it tasted so familiar. I ordered the Thinny Thin, which lived up to the name in that you could probably eat a whole pie (or most of it) with no problem. I am not the biggest fan of the Parmesan; the crust at the edge had a bitter taste.

Opened in 2019 by the same owner as Angeloni’s in Caldwell, NJ which is home of the Thinny Thin pie. In fact, I ordered the Thinny Thin here, the same pie I rated an 8.0 at the original Angeloni’s in 2020; although this version was slightly different, particularly pertaining to the variation in crust. A large bar/tavern pie, this is also a pan pizza, very thin but not quite razor thin. Not much char but a solidly firm undercarriage, cooked well done with a more cracker-like consistency. Despite the “thin crust” style, there’s actually no true crust to speak of; essentially the excess cheese caramelizes against the walls of the pan, crisping & hardening, acting like a crust, similar to Detroit style, only this pizza is circular. Normally I don’t mind the caramelized mozzarella but this version has a sharp, biting, bitter taste with a strange “Cheez-it” flavor. The surface shredded mozz blend is super tight & rigid, not creamy at all and plastered atop the dough & sauce in typical bar pie fashion. With minimal grease & char bubbles abound, the cheese maintains decent flavor despite the harder well done consistency. The sauce pops in pockets of the pie where the flavor really punches through zingy & zesty. The sweetness of the sauce is somewhat subdued but packs plenty of punch & kick from the various spices. A very flavorful & tasty pie overall; but I’m just not feeling the caramelized cheese “crust.” An actual thin & crispy crust, similar to the Thinny Thin at Angeloni’s would launch this pizza into the 8s; but the odd Cheez-it flavor & hardened texture hold this pie back a notch, just missing the cut for a destination pizza. This joint has a great atmosphere, plenty of other outstanding food options & extremely solid bar/tavern pizza; but I prefer the original Thinny Thin at Angeloni’s just a bit more.

Great spot, nice huge bar… I tried there 2 signature pies. I’m scoring the round of course with the 7.9. Good pie, nice and thinly thin, good sauce, good cheese. Very very light. Maybe missing a bit of crunch? I really enjoyed it.. and the place, I would def give it a go. The square ~ for the record: 7.7. Go with the round in my opinion…

This extra thin slice was perfectly crisp with good flavor. Given it was so thin, which is not a bad thing, slice was a little dry. Must be served hot!

Man, bar pie doesn't hold up for longer than 10 minutes. Totally Dave's style, not mine. Hard to pick up out of a blindfolded lineup with Colony or Angeloni's, also at this fest. Probably an 7-8 if you like this style at the least. But I can't get give them much higher than a 7.0 for this style period.

Excellent full size bar style pie! Crust has some crispy cheese thing going on. So unique and good.

Great bar style pie! Super thin, crispy and great flavor. Worth the trip and plenty of great beer on tap too! Good stuff

Ordered ‘mom’s signature pizza’ If you call it your signature then I’m going to order it. I get it, Jersey Bar Pizzas are crispy and well done are the best. Normally they are some of my favorites. But this one did not live up to the hype. Barely had cheese, too we’ll done for me. Sauce was not bad, taste of crust was decent. Needed more cheese and slightly less of a cook. Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it either

Pro: thin, crispy, flavorful. Con: first pie was under done, second pie deserved a higher score…came out perfect. 8.7. Unfortunately have to stick with the first pie. Definitely worth a try.

The thinny thin is thicker than Star tavern.

Pretty good. Even though it is owned by Angeloni’s (I think) I didn’t like this as much.

Pizza was great. Got the thinny thin pizza. Absolutely fantastic. Super thin basically no crust. And the little crust that is that there has a beautiful taste to top off the already amazing pizza

Very similar to angelonis. Only diff between the 2 is here the crust isn’t floppy but the sauce wasn’t as strong. Still good overall but also I can finish a whole pie so expensive if multiple people eating
