Great bar pie, good crunch

It’s been a long time since I had a killer bar pie and this place checks all the boxes!!! This place has been around since 1926 and serves up legendary paper thin pizzas. The crust is exactly what you look for, thin, crispy first bite to last and had a nice amount of pocketing throughout with great almost buttery flavor underneath. As thin as it is and cut into smaller slices, they hold up perfect to what’s a pretty good amount of cheese and sauce for a bar pie. The sauce is very zesty like it should be with a little bit of herbation and more than you see with this style, not a complaint but compliment as it does to the cheese. Perfect amount cooked just right and really the major flavor factor here, it’s awesome and a must try!! The place itself has an awesome oldschool vibe, wood booths look like they’re as old as the building and the service was fast and friendly with a lot of the other people coming in seeming like regulars. Amazing pizzadventure:)

🍺BEST BAR PIE ALERT🍺 Established in 1926, The Mountain House is known for its legendary thin crust bar pie. Some pretty lofty expectations and high hopes coming into this review were not only met, but exceeded. Highlighted by the razor thin, super crunchy, cracker-like dough, definitely gives off Pete & Elda’s vibes, with that unique crisp & taste. This is the perfect appetizer pie…the kind you can slam down with a few beers while watching the game. Bigger than personal size, divided into several small sliver slices, making this a shareable pizza that goes down like water. The cheese is tight and sharp like most bar pies, but not rigid; also melty and somewhat creamy in some areas. The sauce is scintillatingly sweet, zesty, terrifically tangy, fabulously flavorful and delightfully delicious. The balance among the dough, sauce, and cheese is nearly perfect…excellently executed. There’s only a couple of drawbacks keeping this from scoring in the 9s. The cracker-like dough isn’t for everyone and can be very dry at times. Also, because the pie is so light and airy, it’s not very filling; perhaps adding some toppings will help make it more satiating. Nevertheless, this is a crispy, crunchy, tantalizingly tasty, beautiful bar pie that challenges some of the best bar pies of all time. This is travel-worthy, must-try pizza, especially if you’re a fan of bar pies.

One of the best bar style pies I have ever tried. If you like thin and crispy pizza then this is for you!!

The tomato pie specialty is a MUST get, the crunch and the taste is very enjoyable. I’d also recommend The Godfather a great combination of a pie.

Bar pizza. Very good just needs more tang on sauce and more crispy. But deff would get again.

I haven’t been back to this place in over 20 years and somethings never change. The regular pizza is off the charts. Thin crispy and just tasty. As bar pies go I don’t think it’s gets much better then that.
