The Original Charlie's Pizzeria

My favorite pizza behind Vince’s Pizza on Grant. Another nostalgia pie for me.

Review 333. I’m A bit torn. The original location I gave a 8.5 but this location is a little different. The sauce was not as sweet. The crust was excellent. But the slices were not that crisp. Maybe a different oven? Also a lot of flour as you can see. Didn’t like that. However normally I just get cheese, but went for some toppings and there were ample of it. I will make it an even 8 for the toppings but this location is a 7.5 needs crips bites and less flour. Still a good overall Pie

Not as good as the original. Northeast style dough is always extra white but hella crispy (high flour content) but makes it extra flaky and crispy nonetheless. Gonna show some love anyway because the original is an institution. Plus I drove 20 mins before eating it so bumping the score to the original’s rating

I’ve never been to the original location, so I have nothing to compare to. All I know is the pizza I got was very good. The sauce had a nice, savory flavor (I’m more of a sweet sauce guy, but this was good). There was a good amount of cheese, and it wasn’t cheap cheese; it was good-quality cheese. And the crust had a nice crunchy exterior, but soft interior. Not a perfect pizza by any stretch, but absolutely one of the best in the area. And I’ve had a lot of pizza in the area.

This is the 5th time ordering from this location hoping it'll get better but keep getting let down. Very inconsistent compared to the other location. This pizza is under cooked and sauce is very bitter. Last time I ordered 2 pies 1st was good and second overcooked (not well done but a few steps past). I don't understand why such a big difference between the 2 locations but this place just isn't up to par yet. Hopefully time will make this location as good as the other.

Excellent sauce. Great flavor. Little bit of flop. Loaded with cheese but not greasy.
