Pizza Review
As I was walking up to Tommy’s I couldn’t help but notice about 6-7 double parked cars just outside. I stood there for a few minutes just to watch as people would run in and run out with slices and pies. If that old school signage didn’t sell you on this being a great spot, the people running in and out while eating a slice in their car did. When you walk inside you immediately know this is as old school as it’s gonna get, the wood paneled walls, old red booths and the classic tile floors and brick lining around the oven. The slice was fantastic, perfectly balanced with the sauce and cheese ratio, beautiful crust texture with the cornmeal dusting. Perfect crispness providing that all important fold. Everything you want in a NY slice. The flavors and I mean this in an exceptional way when I say this, are the classic NY slice of your dreams. It’s a nearly perfected no frills traditional slice. The subtle sweetness from the sauce, the mild saltiness of the cheese, the right amount of oil glistening on the topside, the beautiful cook on the underside, the nicely done crunch and thin airy structure of the back crust were all phenomenal. This is the kind of place where you wish you had in your neighborhood, an old school pizza joint that doesn’t serve anything fancy or different, they just provide you with awesome classic pizza at a great price.
