Pizza Review
This is one of the more deceptively good pies I’ve ever had. At first glance, it looks like the cheese is individually sliced from a square brick of Polly-O mozzarella, which had me thinking this score would settle in the 6s. But the cheese actually has a great texture with a nice melty ooziness and consistency. The creamy milkiness of the cheese produces a really nice flavor that goes well with the sneaky good sauce. Somewhat sweet, a little tangy, and well balanced with the cheese, the sauce gets better with each bite. The dough is also very good with solid crisp, particularly on the delightfully tasty crust. This entire pie sneaks up on you. I thought I was gonna score low based on looks and initial bite; but when you start comparing it to other pies, you realize it’s actually pretty good pizza. And while some may disagree, I give this pie the slight edge over way too greasy crosstown rival, Reservoir Tavern. Compare for yourself and you’ll see what I mean.
