Pizza Review
Best Detroit pizza!!!! Very new in the pizza game, last year in fact, it’s mind blowing to see what Tramonto’s in Ocean NJ already with their mouth watering creations but today we have a very special pie to talk about. Their XXL Detroit pizza has to be ordered ahead 2 days for anyone that wants one of their own and it’s worth the wait!!! Every aspect and ingredient of this massive square is perfect and textbook of what this style represents. Most importantly there is a wall around this pie of caramelized cheese and a crispy pocketed undercarriage that really soaks up the oil from the pan giving off a very buttery intense like flavor. The interior however is airy pillowy and light, compressing with ease making every slice disappear faster than the last and fuses to the heavy blanket of grande cheese(the good stuff) that is abundant and has incredible old school pizza cheese pull and is so melty and lava like. Then the sauce that is rich, zesty and boasting in flavor aided by the dusting of hard cheese that really sets it off maybe is the best part of the pizza, it’s herbatious and the tone setter of what a great Detroit pizza should be. But what is this style without toppings? The perfect amount of roni cups top this pie with a generous coating of mikes hot honey give this pizza one of the best flavor contrasts I’ve ever had, total flavorgasm. I ate 10 slices of this monster including one in the parking lot out of the box way after it had cooled off to put how f**king awesome this was. Owners are even more next level people, I feel like I’ve met him before somewere but he and his wife are so passionate about pizza and have made no doubt the coolest looking pizzeria out there with the coolest painted windows outside, best decor on the inside and we’re playing the music of my childhood all while entertaining me destroying this monster of a pie. Not pictured but equally as killer is their round Sicilian pan pizza that if I walked I would totally order!! Their specialty pies are the best looking I’ve seen so you have to stop in and check them out, great people and the best Detroit pizza you might ever come across!!! The bar is constantly being raised by new people which is a great thing for the pizza community!

Pizza Review
Opened in July of 2023, Tramonto’s is the new kids on the block on the outskirts of Asbury Park in the Jersey Shore pizza game, coming up on their one-year anniversary. They have all kinds of specialty pizza varieties & styles, a veritable cornucopia of options. Their plain cheese pie is a fairly standard football pizza with a well done approach. Beautifully blackened but not crisped, the dough is very soft & shockingly floppy from the heavy cheese & thick sauce, adding significant weight to each slice. The undercarriage is charred & tasty with some seeds baked in to prevent moisture buildup; however, a crispier, thicker dough would provide a more firm & less flimsy base. With terrific texture & smokey taste, the crunchy crust helps to redeem the soft & floppy dough. A rather heavy shredded mozzarella blend, the cheese is delicious nonetheless with a delightfully creamy consistency, flavorful & not overly greasy; but it gives off extra cheese vibes, particularly near the center of the pie. Despite the wonderfully melty flow, I wouldn’t mind if they dialed back the volume of mozz just a bit so that it’s not thicker than the dough. Robustly rich & hearty, the deep red tomato sauce isn’t super sweet but does have a reasonable amount of sweetness & decent savoriness without being too salty, to go along with a touch of garlic & bitterness from the oregano & other tremendous seasoning that creates a uniquely delectable taste. Melding well with the dough & cheese, the sauce has a distinctiveness that separates this pie from typical Jersey Shore football pizza. Overall, this is a delicious pie with quality components; I’d just prefer a crispier texture & a little less cheese atop. This joint is right on the cusp of destination pizza, with their other specialty pies & styles quite possibly being travel-worthy, particularly their Detroit style pizza & XL Bar Pie. There’s lots of potential here to become one of the top spots along the Jersey Shore.
