Umberto's of Long Island

We’d heard great things about this restaurant and it was all true! This was an absolutely excellent pizza. Highly recommended! Great restaurant as well!

Ive had madisonnave and nonas and this is better. The perfect crispyness and the most delicious sauce and cheese. Its the perfect pizza. Dave would give them a 8.2 all day

From Long Island and this is the only place I goto now that I live in Florida. Excellent NY style pie.

Great pie

This will probably sound worse than it’s meant to but this is the most average pizza you can have. The dough I’d say is slightly above average but nothing stands out and says wow. It’s not bad, solid local pizza but doesn’t stand out like I had been told

Today is a super special extra tremendous amazing day. I HIT MY 200TH LANDMARK PIZZA REVIEW ON THE ONE BITE PIZZA APP. ( floridascott - my watch name) 1. I chose to hit a big well known name in the pizza business, and a highly respected place of NY. 2. This is their Dunedin FL location, where the brother of the famous New Hyde Park NY owner, ( many years ago) went and open up. 3. They brag about hand tossed dough and their home made sauce that is simmered for hours. 4. Overall the dough was absolutely perfect, cheese was very delicious. Sauce was quite good but fell a bit short of the "elite" category! 5. My rating is 8.3 ( same score I rated the Deerfield Beach FL location on my 100 landmark review)

Like the sauce and like the outer crust. Ultimately cheese is greasy and not great. And then the crust under the pie was very chewey. Little bit of flop. Definitely good choice if you are near by.

Don’t let the name fool you. It’s a fine pizza but not New York. If you’re craving then yes it’ll get the job done but don’t go out of your way

So... we are very familiar with Umberto’s in New Hyde Park, Long Island. This restaurant is comparable, pizza cooked well, excellent crust, no flop, a lot of tradition. We didn’t try the Sicilian, which is the mainstay of the N.Y. Umberto’s (watch Dave’s review). This Umberto’s is solid. That’s the review.

Ok, so I’ll start by saying that I’m a hard core fan of The Original Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana on Wooster St in New Haven, CT. Their white whole clam pie with bacon and garlic is pure awesomeness. Their plain tomato pie is excellent as well. Thus, the bar was set high. That being said, Umberto’s cheese pie is a good pie. It’s not greasy, it’s easy to hold a slice without it dropping, and the sauce is not bitter. I was hoping for a bit more flavor. There could have been a little more saltiness in the cheese. The pizza is thin crust and the crust is crunchy, which I like. What I also miss is the coal fired , blackened semolina flour underside that one gets with a Pepe’s Pizza. I’ve lived in Florida since 2004 and have yet to find any pizza that comes close to Pepe’s. Thus, whenever we travel back to CT to visit my family, we’ll always include a visit to the Original Pepe’s in New Haven.

Locally this place is a 9. It’s up there with the joints in NY. Nationally it’s a 7.6. Best pizza in the area.

Great pizza! Crust was done all the way through and delicious, nice and crispy. Good flop too. Sauce was good but hardly any on pizza. Ingredients tasted quality. 7.8 is a review

This is good pizza, minimal flop, very little grease, cheese is great quality with a nice saltiness to it, the sauce is very flavorful and tangy, crust is thin and bendable and chewy. It’s like a better quality Papa Gino’s from back home in New England. This is good stuff, solid, great quality ingredients.
