Uncle Koko's Wood Fired Pizzaria

Crisp edges with a nice undercarriage, though the center did have a tad of a flop. This is without doubt the best pizza in the area. Will definitely return.

My score is going to seem low. Make no mistake this is excellent pizza. I have a proprietary scoring system that I must stay true to. For a local, this pizza is probably a 9.9 I have traveled afar for great slices and I’d say this one ranked among them. The flavor was great and the love that went into this pie could not be understated. However, I think we caught it on a poor execution day and the crust was very floppy. That said.. I ate most the pie to myself.

Such an odd pie. This is the first thing I ate today and it’s almost 4pm. THE GOOD The dough had a wonderful crunch and a certain flavor I would assume from the “wood fire”. However I could be wrong. The sauce was okay, however I like my sauces to have a little more zest to them. THE BAD I could hardly taste the cheese if there was even any in certain parts of the pie. The sauce on top overwhelmed everything as it was like eating a soup pizza. The pepperoni was unique however I think they personally lacked a little flavor that I’ve noticed at other pizza establishments. It’s an okay pie. I give it

Some wood fired pizza here in the Mon Valley. I was really in the mood for Jake’s but I guess they’re closed on Mondays. This isn’t Jake’s, but it gets the job done. You can taste the wood fire in every bite. However, you can’t taste the sauce in every bite because it’s just randomly distributed across the top of the pizza! I had so many dry bites with this pizza just because they put the sauce on the most random parts. Not only was a lot of it dry, but there was a huge temperature difference between the sauce and the rest of the pie. It’s weird eating pizza with piping hot cheese and lukewarm sauce dispersed on top. The consistency of the wood fire almost was enough to get this pizza into the 7s, but I’m afraid I had way too many bites of cold sauce on this pizza.

Great pie would be perfect with a crisper crust, great pie a definite must try
