Pizza Review
Stopped in here on a Saturday night for the first time around midnight or so to grab some slices, since this is really the only place to do so on Halsted. It was kind of a confusing layout. Not really sure how to describe it, but you order slices from the full bar (nice selection of booze!). Everyone was drunkenly standing around not really sure who was next to order or anything; a little chaotic, but I should've known better for this time of the weekend. I ended up behind an obnoxious and belligerent group of girls on a bachelorette party. Let's just say after 5 minutes of waiting, I knew I wasn't going to have the patience to wait any longer and left. No fault here to Venicci. Flash forward a week and I picked a more reasonable time, 7PM on a week day. A fresh pizza was brought out as we waited to order and I got two pepperoni slices. It was about average size for a slice and price at $4 a piece. There is nothing really wrong with it, but nothing stood out. I want to echo a few other comments from previous reviews; it tasted a little salty and toward the outer edge the crust was way too much like a cracker. There was plenty of sauce (savory, not sweet), cheese, and pepperoni. I was able to fold it for the most part, but again, the crust was a little too thin and crispy toward the edge for my liking. However, for convenience and freshness, you can't really beat it in the area. You just have to time it right and maybe only go on weekend nights if you're willing to wait. I have high hopes for this place, because this was needed in the area. I will continue to go back and hopefully they just work out a few kinks since they just opened. All in all, solid spot for some slices.
