Pizza Review
I love a good bar pie and that is the style served here. It’s a little smaller than I imagined, but not a problem. However, this is a case of the hype hurting heading into the review from high expectations. The dough is definitely the star, great firmness, terrific crisp, especially the crust; but the ingredients that rest atop this solid base aren’t nearly as good. The cheese is a little too chunky and not melted thoroughly, neither oozing nor tight like most bar pies. There’s also way more grease than I anticipated, drowning out the flavor of the sauce and rather salty. From what I could decipher, the sauce was fairly average, not particularly strong, left me kinda flat. Aside from the dough, this pizza tastes like if a chain decided to make bar pies. It’s fine for local Jersey Shore bar pie, but my big expectations and high hopes were not met. The tasty dough and crispy crust saves this pizza from dipping into the 6s. I’m sorry, but this is not a pie worth traveling for, even though I wish it was, cause it’s a very cool establishment with really nice people.
