Volo Craft Pizza

This place is so close to nailing it. The sauce and cheese are really close to a standard Long Island or NYC suburb pizzeria, but the crust was a little too doughy and misses the mark for me. Better crust and this is easily in the 8s. Would definitely come back if I’m in the area again.

Really good pizza, great sauce and dough. If you like a Detroit style probably an 8 or higher.

Fantastic Detroit style. Crust is the selling point. Sauce isn’t really sweet….mild and really good flavor. Worth the trip.

Volo in Swampscott. I learned something from this experience: I am not a sweet sauce guy, at all. First time having sweet sauce on pizza. I tried the regular and Detroit style pizza. The regular was like a 3.5, wasn’t too keen on it, way too cheesy and floppy, crust was alright, nothing out of the ordinary, plus the sweet sauce thing. The Detroit style was definitely better, like a 4.8 simply because the crust had insane flavor and crunch, but the sweet sauce is just not my thing. Also very doughy apart from the crust, like a sponge.

We ordered a plain cheese pie (not the Detroit style). The sauce was flavorful and cheese was good although pretty greasy to be honest. The dough was nothing special and the crust was a little chewy for my liking. I averaged out groups rating to a 7.3 and the scores are as follows: Blake(me) 6.6 | Parker 7.8 | Kegan 7.6 I would not recommend this places pie since there are other better places a stones throw away. That being said if you can get your hands on a Detroit style it might be worth it.

This review is only for the standard pizza, not the Detroit style. I deducted points for charging the price of a large pizza but serving essentially a medium size pizza. The cheese was very chewy. The crust was tough. Flavor was ok, not great.

NO flop!!Good undercarriage,sauce is a little sweet,not too greasy, cheese is well cooked and taste good, crust is nice and crunchy a little on the doughy side. Solid football pizza solid 7.4

Detroit style pizza. First time I’ve ever tried this style of pizza with the sauce on top and cheese on the bottom and it did not disappoint. Extremely crisp around the edges packing some great flavor. The cheese was savory and the sauce had a slight sweet flavor to it. The dough is about an inch to inch and a half thick and is very fluffy on the inside. The kind of pizza that will have you going back for more very soon

Good sweet sauce and buttery crust. I’m not really not a big fan of this style but I can still recognize this as a great solid pizza in its own unique way. Bonus points for the great views across the street

Sweet sauce, very nice Good tasting cheese Roni cups were very good Is it worth the drive if you don't near this place? Maybe. 8's and noines are places you drive far too or wait a half a day for the order and is cash only My score is 7.7 Ray Bourque style. I liked it a lot but not in the 8's but very close There is a standard of pizza we know and love and we won't anything less. One day i will be hitting south of Boston for pizza. Unique, good sauce, Great cheese. Wish I got it well done. Also bonus points for an unbelievable cannoli! Definitely gotta check this place out if you’re in the area.

Super nice people. I got the Detroit style. Very good and I feel like i lowballed the score, it’s an 8’s level pizza. Sauce was so good, cheese was good. Crust was thick but still had very nice crisp, the more I ate, the better it got. You won’t be disappointed.
