The New York slice style takes the edge at 8.8 and the New Haven style was great but I’m gunna give it an 8.6 because it needed more sauce and cheese. Without it the flavor wasn’t balanced enough to match the char and give it the true New Haven style of a perfect slice.

Man, Wheated has so many versions of a plain pie, I wish I could leave multiple reviews. Amazing that Portnoy himself doesn't rescore but the app automatically deletes the ole review when you leave more than one review of a spot. So I'm reviewing their wood fired Roman style they made exclusively for Pizza on the Pier and will update with a, no doubt, higher score when I try their in house plain. Roman is super thin and shattery, crackery without the literally having the texture of a cracker. It can't hold up a lot of sauce and cheese and that's okay. Sauce is balanced and natural tasting in it's flavor, being neither acidic or sweet. Spotches of tomato offer a nice creamy contrast. Good pizza. I strongly suspect though his normal pie is at least an 8 from me.

Was honored to bump fists with the pizza genius himself, and I must say, he lives up to the title. Crispy through and through and the sauce / cheese ratio was on point. Lots of variety in the pie type - I’ll have to return to try some more

Really interesting spot serving up pizza while doubling as a whiskey bar from the looks of it. Really good selection of pies here. This is the Bensonhurst. Dough was nice with good char on it. Sauce was nice with some pecorino on top. Would definitely recommend this pie. Also had a New Haven style pie. I’d have to give it a bit of a lower score. 7.3 for the New Haven which was a bit too cheese heavy for me and could’ve used more sauce. Also lacked that coal oven char flavor you get from a New Haven pie. The place also serves personal bar style pies if that’s more your style.

Crispy

Made the trip to Prospect Park Brooklyn to try this gem of a sourdough pie!!! Went worth the NY slice style well done and it was incredible. Totally different flavor complex with these style of pizzas and I have to say this is right up there with the likes of an Angelo’s. The crust is sooooo light and that thick outer crust all charred up is loaded with air pockets and that awesome sourdough flavor. The sauce is nice and sweet, very fresh tasting and goes great with the crust but the aged mozz topped with a healthy amount of grated cheese really sets it off as well as some oregano herbation. This one will leave your hands dirty as the charring is leaparded on the undercarriage as well and the pizza holds its heat incredibly well as the final slice still had some good temp. Vibe inside was awesome, great service and staff and I was surprised to get a seat so easily on a Saturday night. This place is must try, destination spot if your into this style! Brooklyn just keeps piling it on with awesome top tier spots.

Fantastic pizza that’s incredibly slept on. I have another picture of this pie showing it had 0 flop. Great crunch. Perfect sauce to cheese ratio. Dave needs to try this place

The Bensonhurst. 8.6, fresh, great crust, almost perfect IMO.

Had the Flatbush pizza (eggplant on margherita). A little less salty than bensonhurst (their normal margherita) but still bit too salty. Phenomenal sourdough crust.

Good flop. Great crisp. Get the Bensonhurst Dave! Delicious
