Pretty good pizza...but not “damn good pizza.” This may be the best slice in DC but when you make a New York slice, you’re judged against a New York slice standard.
Now to the pizza. The sauce and cheese are spot on, nothing fancy and it gets the job done nicely. The crust is where this pizza really falls flat. It’s not a classic New York crust. It’s flatter, it’s harder, and it doesn’t fold in half without cracking.
It’s a good slice. Maybe the best DC slice, it’s my go-to slice when I’m in DC for sure. But I’m not picking this over a slice from New York. Anybody who thinks this is above an 8 has never had pizza from New York before. 6.9, that’s the score.
