I'm not in the business of ragging on a place. But this is easily the worst pizza in Yorktown, and one of the worst from a local slice joint in the area.
That's not to say it's *especially* bad, it's not, it's just bland. Keep in mind, I'm judging a closing time slice, so that's hurting it a bit. Although I had a slice at Oscar's right before this and it's probably Yorktown's second best.
So what's the deal? The crust is chewy, dense, with not particularly great aeration. It's got a medium brown bake, it's medium thin, no flop, it's a toasty crust but I don't usually like that.
It looks like it has a good distribution of sauce. But you can't really taste much but a basic neutral tomato flavor. Not herbaceous either. It's definitely a loose sauce.
Cheese feels lower quality. It's obvious low moisture mozzarella. But it has that taste of maybe even being part skim. No grease.
All that said, I have to admire neighborhood/community friendly spots like this. I could see it looked like they sponsored junior high school girl's soccer and they are family run.
This is definitely one of those affordable family dinner pizza and pasta spots. And that ain't nothing to sneeze at these days, I just think you're way better off pizza-wise at Uncle Giuseppe's, Oscar's, or take your pick.
