Pizza Review
This is not the typical coal-fired style pie you find in the majority of New Haven pizzerias. This is your basic, cookie-cutter, Neapolitan style, a little larger than personal size pizza. Much like 95% of the Neapolitan style pies I’ve tried, the dough is soft & chewy, dry with zero crisp and virtually flavorless. Unfortunately, the other ingredients aren’t much better. The fresh mozzarella is barely melted, cold in spots and not spread thoroughly atop the pizza. The sauce is sparse and aside from some slightly sweet tomato, it provides more color than taste. There’s no spice or tang, definitely needs some punch. The baked basil is mostly decorative and falls flat in adding much flavor. This is a nice little Albanian restaurant but their pizza needs a lot of work and has no business being on Wooster St. with the other titans of New Haven.
